To all intents and purposes, the story began several decades ago, back in the 1970's when the wizard calling himself Lord Voldemort rose to power for the first time. Destruction and terror was a widespread occurrence on and off over the next thirty or so years, until he was finally vanquished in 1998 at the Battle of Hogwarts.
The story began again on January 1st 2000. Since the fall of their master, the few Death Eaters that managed to escape their fate of life in Azkaban had grouped together and begun planning. In the early hours, while muggles everywhere celebrated the new year and heralded in the turn of the century, the wizarding world was quietly falling to pieces...
